Taking me to the 10's
Hey all.I want to know how i can do 10's with my gsx, street tires and pump gas?I'm thinking about doing it with a 20G.But i dont want to run 35 psi...also...i'm want to use apex'i s-afc so what injectors and fuel pump and stuff will i need.Would a T3/T4 turbo be better to use?I only have about $7,000 and a stock 97 gsx.So i dont know if that matters or not. Thanks!

Re: Taking me to the 10's
10s have never been run in a DSM on pump gas, and on race gas tim switzer is the only 20g to run 10s. If that makes you feel any better
10s are a long way away for most people running 20Gs... 7k isnt going to cut it. Mid to low 11s perhaps.

Re: Taking me to the 10's
GSXracer how would you say a GT35R would fare for 10's on pump? I think my new hopeful turbo is G50 or M50.

ok you question whores ... now its my turn
99 GSX 50k miles... stock, gonna be a everyday driver at first, looking at a 20g, mods to make a high 11-low 12's, just enough to beat my friends new 350Z, got any ideas? oh yeah.... i got 15k to throw around, its gonna be a project car once things fall into place... if you where me, what "internals" would you use |

Re: Taking me to the 10's
Alcohol injection is great, but its still doesnt beat race gas, which is purposely made for one goal. Making shitloads of power where pump gas wont suffice. Alky injection might take you to the same point that some lower octane unleaded race fuels will, like 100 octane. But 117ish true race fuel is the way to go. Trust me, I would rather run pump and something else than have to deal with draining the tank and swapping fuels all the time. I may even try propane injection since I do faitly well on pump as it is. If I do I'll post the results naturally.
The GT35r is a great turbo, but it has the same compressor wheel my turbo does, so I dont have much confidence in its abilty to run 10s. But its a good bit larger than the turbo Dre was running when he did the 503 on pump. Dres car tune dwith pump on a 35r with a real nasty driver could hit 10s I might say. Hmm... The G50 and M50 are both capable of making the same airflow (and therefor power) as my current turbo does at 25 psi, so there is no reason one of those turbo shouldnt at least duplicate my shyte 400 whp on pump. Without the problems I had, you could certainly do better. And just for shits and grins, my current turbo started life as a M50, lol ![]() high 11 to low 12 on pump is about where I was with a 20g and pump (12.0). It is/was a daily driver as well. For internals you could use a stock 6 bolt motor, but I dont think I would feel comfortable with stock 7 bolt 2g internals. Youre not going over the power level it can take, but any mistake in tuning on pump gas is worse than making the same mistake on race fuel. Since you are already pushing the limits of what power it can handle (400ish hp with a limit of what poeple find is around 450 whp) its a close call. So, stock or rebuilt 6 bolt, or just new internals and a rebuild for the stock motor. I would do at least eagle rods, with stock or Ross pistons. Some poeple do wiesco. Avoid JE. Think that covers most of them

sex for ypur feet = turbos
ok just for shits and giggles, say 12's... is there a web page that has this info, like a database with dinosheets and different set ups or am i pissin on the wrong tree? anyway, so i might be pushing the engine a bit hard reaching for 11's? b/c im still learning and reading about tuning and fuel managment systems and such, im in jersey and im sure there is a decent tuning shop in NYC or even round my house in N. Jersey... saying your eclipse is 400hp is nothing to shake a stick at, sounds meeeeeeeeaaaaaaannn |

Re: Taking me to the 10's
You can find at least what turbo is running what times at www.dsmtimes.org . Sadly they don't have full setups or dyno scans. 11's will not be hard to reach if using race gas is an option for you. Don't think that it will be easy or cheap... but it's not impossible at 118 octane. Oh, also www.dsmtuners.com most members have a profile with mods and a 1/4 time, if that helps.
