HELP!! Check Engine Light
2 days ago my check engine light came on. The car has always run good. It has about 187,000 KMs on it. When I rev it up past 3000 RPM's it shudders and shakes. If I shift before 3000, then it's fine. But this happens in every gear. I went home and check my diagnostics unit and it flashed 4 times. In the Chiltons manual it shows that this is the Crank Sensor. I went to see how much one is and it lists for $600!! I can get it for $325, but I can replace the whole distributor for this price. Has anyone every had this problem before? Is there anything else that can be causing this? I really don't want to have to replace the distributor if I don't need to.

Re: HELP!! Check Engine Light
Did you follow the chart and do the tests?
![]() ![]() If it does turn out ot be bad then I have a distributor that you can buy off me for cheap and use it for parts. It is complete except the coil, had to buy the whole distributor to get the coil. I have no use for it.

I followed the steps in the manual. I forgot to mention that I have an 88 Integra. I believe the diagram you posted (thanks by the way) is for a newer Integra. I unplugged the connector and mine has 5 pins instead of 7. I metered the bottom 2 pins and it didn't show any resistance at all. Just for the heck of it I check the 2 pins above and they metered at 350 ohms. I checked for continuity to ground and there isn't any, so it isn't shorted to ground. I'm guessing that I'm going to need a new distributor. Thanks for the reply.
