Question door handle lifted inside lights activated

Hello all,
I'm new here, new to Chevy Trucks, brought a 2004 2WD silverado LS extended cab 4.8, according to GM, and they have looked into this, their catalog on all silverado's has a standard feature, When door is locked and outside door handle is lifted/pulled, inside lights come on.

Night or day, I have yet to see this. This truck does not have the steering wheel controls, so does not have all the DIC program options, but this should be a default feature like the doors locking when shifted to drive, can anyone tell me....is this something they stated is available on all Silverado's or were they mistaken, GM says this is feature does not mean when you open door lights come on, it means with door locked, not one dealer can figure this out for me, advice or tips accepted. Also best move I made to was getting rid of the Goodyear wrangler st tires that came with truck and replaced with Firestone Firehawk indy 500's makes great ride, for a truck and great traction.

Jerry

Re: door handle lifted inside lights activated

Don't know about the door handle, I'll check my truck after work.
Did you keep the stock rims after the tire swap?

Just a shot in the dark, but are you locking with the door lock switch, or the remote?

Opened doors, lock by door switch, nothing, here's my take on it, I'm thinking if it is programmable, it is only if there is a Steering wheel with all the controls on it, then you could go through the list of things you can program in DIC, if so don't list as a standard feature in all Silverados, it's an option in that case.
