Thumbs down Denied Silverstars at Pep Boys

Went in today with two coupons from last Sundays ad($16.88 twin pack)and they would only honor that price on each bulb, which didn't matter because they were all gone anyway, and they are never in a hurry to restock them. He said they get maybe a couple dozen every week. Those are probably gone by Sunday afternoon. It seems the company is losing more money on this thing then they will ever get in return, according to the manager(boo hoo!). They had to post signs at the entry doors, correct every in-store circular by hand and take 5 minutes to explain to every customer like me, why they continue to print bad information nationwide. Just imagine the increased foot traffic being generated at every one of their stores over this issue. I walked out and will pay $19.95 each at Autozone.

They're still knowingly printing those circulars?!!!!!!!! Isn't that against the law?!!! Once can be considered a mistake, but to knowingly print them again is intentional misrepresentation!!

So this is just a question for all of you who have installed the silverstar bulbs... I was afraid they would get to hot and melt or warp the headlight casing, This obviously hasn't been a problem? I guess I was just being over cautious...what do you think of them on a whole

I have yet to install the SilverStars that I picked up at the last sale, but I do have a set of XtraVision in the Aurora since the middle of December and have had no problems with those bulbs. I believe the power requirements for both bulbs are similar.

FWIW: As far as lighting goes, several internet sources seem to indicate that the XtraVision are a better bulb than the USA made SilverStars. So if you can't get them on sale then the XtraVisions are certainly a viable/better option. Another problem with the SilverStars is bulb life, or should I say lack of bulb life.

Good luck.

Pep Boys

Never will I set foot in a Pep Boys again!!! The ones they have in Southern California treat you worse than your Mother in Law, after cheating on your wife!!! They never have what's they supposed to have on sale, and the stuff they do have is way over priced, I'll just stick to Kragen...

Re: Pep Boys

That's pretty much what I was thinking. That was the first time I had been in our local store in over a year. It looked like a low budget swap meet in there. The entire lighting section looked like a bomb had gone off. Crap all out in the isles so you can't even walk. Electric scooters??? What's up with that?

Re: Re: Denied Silverstars at Pep Boys

Autozone's regular price on Silverstars is $19.95 each here in SoCal. The wattage is what melts things. Headlight max is about 80w, and foglight is 40w max.

Re: Denied Silverstars at Pep Boys

Just to add to peoples' reasons not to patronize Pep Boys--They told me that the parts and labor on an A/C compressor they would replace would have a lifetime warranty. Against the warnings of the reputable local dealer's service department, I had Pep Boys replace it. When I asked for the warranty papers upon payment, they told me that it was not warranted; and the manager who had sold me the repair was conveniently not available for the next few days. And their staff was collectively rude to me. I guess that Pep Boys administration believes huxterism to be good business practice, as evidenced by their ads. Unfortunately for them they have forever lost my business, my family's business, and I will never recommend them to a friend.

They Do Burn Out Fast. (the Lows). I Took Them Back To Wal Mart Without A Receipt And Told Them I Wasn't Satisfied And They Exchanged Them For A New Set. Depends On Who You Get At Customer Service. Don't Try This At Fukn Target. They Act Like Customs Agents. They Lasted About 3 Months For Me Though I Would Always Have Them On Day Or Night. If They Burn Out Fast Again I Will Call Sylvania And Ask Wtf. They Do Shine Brighter And Are Less Than H.i.d.
