Need Help to open ZX3 liftgate

Hi,
My ZX3 liftgate will not open. I was able to remove the inside liftgate cover to look at the lock assembly. The key will not turn in the lock. The remote (and dash button) will ativate the lock assembly but will not unlatch.
I need to figure oput how to open the liftgate to acess the skrews to remove the lock assembly.
