Need help setting my timing

Well i took my distributor apart and put in a new pickup coil and control module.But theres one problem i didnt put the distributor back the way it used to be ,so now my car doesnt run like it used to.i know i should of marked it or something so i would know exactly were to put it.Anyways any help will be greately apreciated.

you mean you have it rotated? all you do is loosen the three bolts and turn it, straight up and down is center toward the firewall is advanced and the other is retard

you need a gun if you want it perfectly tuned, but it really doesnt matter to much, just keep advancing it untill the engine sounds right.

get a timing light, have a friend rotate the dizzy and watch for the red igition mark to line up on the crank pulley

And then after you're sure it's really warmed up go for a drive try to make the engine knock. If it knocks you'll have to back it off a bit......or start running a higher octane.
