high and low idle

i have a 96 escort that idles high and low high and low any suggestions???? i was also wondering if a gt motor bolt on to a lx trany?

Sounds like a MAP sensor problem. Have you ever had a tune up? If your using old wires and plugs the wires might be deteriorated to the point that you have unstable idle. Also involved in a tune up is the fuel filter replacement , if its plugged up it could affect fuel pressure and cause rough idle.
Heres proper tune up so you dont get ripped off.
1- New Plugs (use the same type your car came with)
2- New Plug wires (use the same your car came with) check the wires after to see if they have # on them showing the order they belong in. If the numbers are present they are the original wires and you did not get a proper tune up.
3- Fuel filter replacent (same thing car came with)
This will not only help with your problems you will also notice the car has more pep. If the problem still occurs you may need to replace a fuel pump.

Prime suspect would be Idle Speed Control (ISC)motor. Some can be cleaned successfully.

i think that wold be your idle sensor or your oxoygen senser
