Loss of Pressure

My passenger side cyclender has no compression in it. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do to fix it? I'm on a very tight budget so the cheaper the fix, the better.

Re: Loss of Pressure

Passenger side cylinder? If that is what you meant then what are you talking about? I would like to help but I am confused as to what you are asking.

Re: Loss of Pressure

hes talking on the #4 piston and if your car still runs fairly well you can just replace the head gasket thats probably why you have no pressure if you do it your self its not that expensive to replace but a shop will charge you

Re: Loss of Pressure

I highly doubt it being the headgasket. Probably more like either the piston rings or the valves. Do a leakdown test and listen to where the air is going. ie: I fthe air is going into the exhaust then the exhaust valves are not seating properly, if the sir is going into the intake then the intakes valves are not seating properly, and if the air sounds like it is going into the oil pan then the rings are bad. Have you done a compression test? What were the #'s?

So how do you know it is your #4 cylinder?

I would advise you to take it to a shop if you don't know anything about engines. This is not something you can easily learn over the internet, determining what the problem is and fixing it is hard to explain to a person who knows absolutely nothing about motors.

Re: Loss of Pressure

i am going with its the 4th because i was looking at the hayne's manual and it numbers them off. I don't know things about engines specifics. I have rebuilt old Type-3 VW engines and complete cars, but nothing new. Also, i have people around me that can easiely help me, but i was hoping to determan the problem before asking them for help.

Re: Loss of Pressure

Do as I suggested in the 4th post compression test and leakdown test. Without these nothing can be determined.

Re: Loss of Pressure

I thought of another question, when i remove the head to get at the rings (this is how i'm assuming it will have to be done). Do i have to get a new head gasket and new rings, what else do i need to get? Is there a kit for it or something of that sort and where do i get it at.

Re: Loss of Pressure

Take it to a dealership!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have absolutly no clue what you are doing and you cannot learn everything ob the internet, some one has to show you some of the things in person. Please save yourself some money and take it to a dealership or good shop.
