I owned a 1992 CV, one of the early ones w/ the 4.6l OHC V8.--bought it new in March 1991. Drove it 105,000 miles and traded it last year for a 2003 CV LX. The 1992 always drove "loose" at highway speeds like I was steering it through a "rubber band".
I traded it on a new 2003 CV LX in March, 2002. The new 2003 with the rack and pinion drives much truer and tighter. What is the difference between the steering systems and why is the rack and pinion so much better?

Re: CV 2003 Rack and Pinion Steering versus Older Models
Recirculating ball steering is adjustable for slack sounds like the 92 was setup loose from start. I have a 99 with this same steering and it is crisp and precise. Rack and pinion steering is basically non adjustable what the factory gives you is what you get. If you got a tight one good deal you get a loose one and well it is loose for life.
