oil pressure

i have an 91 mitsu eclipse2.0L non-turbo my oil pressure gauge is telling me whenever im at idle it goes low and when i start to go it increases to normal the faster the engine speed the higher it goes does anyone know what might be broken or a common problem that might be causing this? thanks

that is totaly normal. if you have a car manual [factory] it says it in there.

Even tho when it goes low the needle is all the way down the the "L"?

when was the last itme you changed your oil? yes it is normal for the oil pressure to read 'lower than you think is right' when you are idling. now i'm not sure about all the way down, but when you put some load on the engine it should pick up to levels within the normal lines.

hey, i have a newer eclipse (98) mine does the same thing too... But it's doesn't go way down like you said.

yeah..my car has the same thing. I changed my oil too 10w-40. But it was still reading low, so I looked it up.. They have a bulletin out for it..they say at idle oil pressure should only be 11psi.. wierd.

like i said it is normal for it to drop very low at idle. i checked mine out as i was driving today and it was pointing directly at the L. you are all fine. i think it even says it in the owners manual, if you have 1...
