I have a 93 Saturn SL2 , with the 1.9l DOHC motor.
In heavy traffic, the "check engine soon" light will come on 3 or 4 times. It doesn't come on unless I'm in stop and go traffic. I bought a code scanner , and I'm getting error# 26,,,, which says "Quad Driver Module or Quad Driver Error#1" Does anyone have any suggestions??? I would greatly appreciate the help. thanks MD. |

I was just about to post something along these lines. I have the same car but with the sohc and engine light #26 came on. I have heard conflicting information on it and wanted to get it straight. I have heard that this could be due to the EGR valve and can later lead to rough idleing, which I am experiencing. But my mechanic was telling me that it was the computer. Also, I am wondering if anyone has any experience transmission problems. Mine is now bucking when I accelerate. It's not doing this druing the gearshift, because I have a manual transmission, rather it's during acceleration at higher speeds 30+ mph. My mechanic informed me that this was probably due to a loose wire from the cpu to the trans but has not been able to duplicate it under testing conditions. I posted it here because it may have been derived from the original problem. Does anyone have any advice?

"Check engine soon" light
I have a saturn sl 1996 w/ 1.9L DOHC motor. I had the check engine soon light for a very long time and it used to go off and on once in a while. The only way it went off it permanently so far after 15k or so. It was by going into oil change place and doing a pressurized flushing of the engine. Good Luck.

if it is the egr? agr? valve you can take the valve right off and clean it, reinstall,,all good.. its located to the right side and is held on by two bolts..i suggest going to autozone comfirming its the egr valve then try this..it saved me 150 bux...all i did was first soak it in wd40 to loosen the carbon deposits a bit..dont know if this helped any but then i squirted some acestone in there and there is a star? bolt on the bottom.. while covered in aceton i pushed the valve in and out while spinning it also..do this until it stops sticking and you shouldnt get this check engine again until it builts up enough carbon to make it stick againn
im a newb so i may be off in my lingo or the whole post altogether..take it for what its worth to many questions on here not enough answers.. |

the qdm codes are usually related to the EGR and/or EVAP solenoids. however the code could be caused by something else. like a malfuncution with the MIL, cooling fan circuit, AC relay.......theres a few other things i cant remember what. but if you replace those solenoids theres a very good chance you'll fix the problem
