My 1987 Ford Tarus 3.0 liter needs a new oxygen & map sensor (so says Sparks auto repair). The car runs great, does not smoke, I try to keep up with the regular stuff at Jiffy Lube and back-yard plug changing, but it did not pass our Department of Enviromental Quality test for license renewal. That said, can someone tell me where the oxygen & map sensors are so I can try to replace them myself.
Parts price on-line is about 70% less than Sparks (without labor), so I thought I'd tackle the job myself. Any ideas? |

Re: Where is it and how hard is it to replace?
The map sensor is easy to change. It is on the firewall behind motor. the oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust pipe where the 2 downpipes meet the converter. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help
Good! Thanks so much for your help. The question asked at the auto parts store was if the oxygen sensor was a 1 wire or 3 wire. With your help, I should now be able to get the right part.
Thanks again, GWR |

Re: Where is it and how hard is it to replace?
Not a problem. Glad to help. I have 2 Tauruses for parts, if you need anything let me know with an email, and I will see if I still have the part.
