Engine Problem, '95 88 LSS

Hey there,

Just wanted to get a little insight into an issue w/ my car.

Currently is in the garage, refusing to start. Turning the key does nothing, the Dash lights up (brand new battery).

A bit of history, its a hand me down car from an uncle of mine. It was supposed to be my grocery getter/winter car.

Anyway, when i got the car she ran fine. But then at some point in the 2nd week i had it....it developed a knocking sound? Upon paying closer attention w/ the hood open it appeared to come from the supercharger itself? Another hunch of mine was a spun bearing....

Anyway...the car ran w/ the knocking for a bit...

The first time it died....it was at a light just out of the gas station....the dash was lit, but the car refused to start. I could hear...half a crank and then it would stop. The engine light was on as well as the 'too hot' light. I left the car there, intending to tow it....came back in about a week, and tried it....it fired right up!? ....still w/ the knocking.

On the trip home, despite the fact it was dead cold, stepping on the gas too much caused it to die again. Fortunately it fired up and i eased up on the gas.....made it home ok. Parked it.

Since then, it hasnt started. It doesnt even crank......nothign happens when you turn the key =\

Id really rather not just tow it to a dealer and get bent over :P

Any suggestions/advice is appreciated!

Thanks!
