turbo KA or Sr swap

when thinking about uping the power on my 240, i have really only thought about doing an sr swap, and never thought it would be worth while to turbocharge the KA, i was just wondering if any of u guys have turbocharged your KA and how it went, or if u have turbocharged a KA and done an Sr swap, how they compared, price differences, and what not, thanks

Re: turbo KA or Sr swap

use the search button if you want more elaborate info, you'll get all the info you need using the search function.

But I think RB, SR, KA-T are all rip-offs. Why not build your own jet engine and put that into your 240!!! A good project

Re: turbo KA or Sr swap

^ see I know that is true in most cases, but wouldn't that mean big 5.7l American engines have a big advantage over our small 2.0l japanese engines?

Re: turbo KA or Sr swap

hmmmm good point about that lol
but i would say turbo ur KA. In my opinion u could have a pretty reliable and quick ka for the money u would spend on a sr. Plus i know that there are many ka's out there that will waste an sr. Supposedly run 10's...iv seen no proof to back that up though. So its up too you

240sx with a Lt1 Chevy! and an automatic transmission... now we are talking drag cars lol. Better yet just put the Lt1 into a Miata and get it all over with. Nothing beats the torque curve of american iron.

well my KA-T with a real intercooler and a 3 inch exhuast should get me 250whp which is what most KA-T's dyno at. and for those who don't know the match. thats is around 300hp. to get a SR to get that much power you need to upgrade the turbo. since the stock T25 will only net you 230whp tops. my car can make that running only 9psi. that 232whp i got is running on 9 psi while running on bad gas so i was detonating and the car was tuned really conservatively because of that. and yes your KA is alittle tired but you can rebuilt it for quit little money ( like 2000) and you can get the greddy turbo kit (3000) so for 5000 total you can get a car that can make over 300hp. easily. where a SR swap will cost you 4000. but a built KA is faster and is a more rugged engine. i've had my KA for 20K miles and over 10 months and i can still bust a 350z's ass by 5-6 cars.

and by the way i'm still running on stock internals.

Re: turbo KA or Sr swap

The more I read and see the more I am liking the KA-T set up. plus it has the added bonus of being slightly less illegal that the SR swap.

Re: turbo KA or Sr swap

yea if u have an old engine I would get an SR20DET, so that engine has less miles and is also fast. And look at the RB26DETT, one of the best most efficient engines, is only 2.6 liters versus the LS6 5.7 liter engine. So how is 2.6 liters, a lot less displacement than most American cars, have the potential to be one of the fastest?

yes, it does. i had a 6.6L v8 in a 300zx. the damn thing moved. it was stock and 300hp....

ferrari's and lambo's are all 12 cylinder.

big displacement + the best in technology = speed, hence the 2.6L i6 rb26dett. the technology of it is so good and they built the engine so well, that even though it's only 2.6L .... its f'in fast.

but bigger the engine, the more power you can put out. end of story....

i have a video of an sr20 running a 10.8. want it?

of course it's a supra turbo. its the fastest sr20 that i know to exist.

i bet you can get the ka-t in the low 10s, if not 9's.

Re: turbo KA or Sr swap

the KA-T setup is starting to wear me down, soundin like a pretty good idea, but how much boost can a KA handle?

Re: turbo KA or Sr swap

it better move if it's a 6.6 l V8. Look at the RB26DETT though, it packs 350 hp which is more stock than that massive 6.6 liter engine, and its an inline 6 instead of a V8, and yet it has more potential than that 6.6l engine.
