Lebaron Turbo

I know the 1989 LeBaron has a 2.5L turbo engine. But I have a 88 2.5L and was wondering if there is any way to upgrade the 88 without swapping out the entire engine.

The 2.5L wasn't offered until 1989 so your car has a 2.2L engine, which in my opinion is a good thing.

Is your car turbocharged? If so are you wanting to upgrade it to a Turbo II? I can help you with anything you want to do to your car. You came to the right place.

Re: Lebaron Turbo

There was a 2.5L in 1988 but not turbo. They made a 2.2 turbo and a 2.5 in the premium 2D convt. So right now I don't have a turbo but wanted to see if I could upgrade the 2.5 instead of swapping it out. And if there is a turbocharger about how much would it cost.

Well, of your car has a TBI engine then you're going to have to swap in a Turbo engine no matter what. I would look for an engine from an 89+ Turbo Chrysler or Turbo Dodge. I feel that the 2.2L is the way to go, but some people prefer the 2.5L.

Re: Lebaron Turbo

Well the car is TBI which sucks because I was hoping I would be able to upgrade it instead of dropping in a new engine. But thanks for your help

Sure, no problem. If you need any help just ask, also Donovan's Dodge Garage is a great place to go to learn about the Turbo Dodges and Chryslers and how to work on them. It is a great resource.
