Tail Lamp Fuse Blowing

Hi,

I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima. Last week my 10 A Tail Lamp fuse blew. I replaced it and it was working for a while. Then it blew again and now when I replace it, it blows off the moment I switch on my Head Lights.
Any Ideas??

Thanks

had same prob.

when that happened to me, i figured it's probably the wires somewhere got mixed up, positive and negative. sometimes that happens when uncovered parts of wires are wet, like rainy or snowy day you drive.

i was trying to look for those parts.
first, i figured that it had to be somewhere low, where the water can be contacted, b/c there were nothing wrong with my tail lights, bulbs, or fuse box.

the wires go from fuse box to tail light(trunk) through under the carpet on driver's side, (like where gas tank lid is).

i had to bend the plastic parts that holds the carpet and inspect the wires from the begining to the end.

for my case, it was near the rear tire, where the wires can be easily wet.

i don't know if this helps...

good luck.

Hey,

I had a similar problem. One of my 1156 lightbulb connectors was arcing with some other wire in the tail light assembly. My fuses kept blowing and my gauge/instument lights went out along with the tails. I noticed an electrical burning smell... like the wiring was melting. Turns out it was. I think it started because one of my bulbs was corroded. Well, I tried to wire in a new bulb socket (I think its called a pig). It didn't burn the fuses anymore but that side still wouldn't light up. I finally just went to a junkyard and got the whole clip that affixes inside the trunk. It solved the problem and the yard gave it to me because they were scraping the car (It should cost no more than $20). This may or may not be your problem so check it out first. Also, if your gonna pick up the part from the yard test it out before you leave.

Here's a link to a junkyard parts website. You can search by car, part, and state.

Good luck,

Matt
