I'm a complete 240 newb, and I need some help.

I'm planning on buying me a 240 as a project (and possibly a daily driver/street car). I already know I'm gonna get a 92-93 s13 and either swap out with an SR20DET or an RB25 (also, how much would an RB25 run me?)

A few questions:

I already know I'm going to go hardcore on the suspension since I'm a handling nut, what direction would be the best way to go? I live in Kentucky and anyone who's been there can tell you it has crazy weather. So I need some way to be able to mostly drive it in any kind of weather without reasonable difficulty.

What kind of suspension set up and im looking at? And what kind of tires?

I'm not really a -racer- but I like to push myself to the limits on roads and see just how fast I can take them... so I'll need as much help as I can get.

As far as looks go - I do plan on adding a bodykit because I like a car that looks good as well. and I know it sounds ricey - but I was wanting to swap the badges out with Silvia's...unless of course it won't really be a silvia car - so would having the s13 240 warrant silvia badges?

And whatever other comments you want to add would be appreciated .

as for suspenson...it all depends on your cash flow. if you had endless limts, say go for a full set of quality coiloveslike jic magic, tein or keioffice.

if your broke and want the most for your money get some lowering springs (eibach) and some shocks (kyb makes decent ones)

silvia badge? maybe on a coupe i wouldnt mind. but on a fastback, it confront you in a dark alley and anally rape you.

the rb swap will run you about 6'g installed and a hell alot of work to fit in into the 240sx and wireing, the sr20det is about 4'gs installed and less pain to install, the rb motor you will have a hard time finding parts for it over here with the sr you can propbably go to pep boys and use the parts of the n\a sr20de form the sentra ser if something minor goes wrong..

By some of these roads, and going as fast as I can, I mean doing the speed limit would be considered fast.

That and I don't do 80+ going places.

no prob, ive been through kentucky when i was driving my car from florida to chicago...mad cops, i dont have the foggiest clue how you could speed over there.

Easy - I live in a small town and my father's one of the longest-employed paramedics so the whole police/fire/ambulance know him and thus they know me - so I get off pretty easy if I get caught... that and they don't travel around the roads I do - too dangerous to go any fast on unless you know them and your vehicle.

Some places are horrible though, no doubt, but in my own county I can be doin 65 on the public roads and cops just wave at me. As long as I'm not doing anything extremely stupid they just wave it on by.

yea man dont do the badges. Shave all badges is my opinion. As far as suspension.... yea depends on ur cash flow (as everything oddly does). But yea tein, kei office etc. As far as tires well thats up to you and what brand u like. i like falken tires they do me good and many others. Just do research on brands and items before u decide to buy them.

I've decided against a kit and just keepin the body stock... only exterior visual mod will be the solid cobalt blue I want and I like the silvia badges so it looks like im getting a coupe (like those anyway... if I get a hatch I'll get a bunch of ricers saying 'drift it drift it!!!11!111')

And who said they were nice Logikal? I just said they don't pull me over. Got nothin to do with the rest of the people here. They tolerate my antics is more like it. That and they have their hands full with the every-other-day meth lab busts and the highschool jerk-offs who loiter and just generally cause trouble in town at night.

And like I said, the roads I drive to mess around on they don't go around on because it's not practical to cruise those seeing if people are speeding and/or drunk because:
1) It's nearly impossible to speed and stay on the road (by speeding I mean do 10+ over)

2) If you're drunk and on that road - you've already wrecked.

I believe it will only fit the S13 chassis....

It's kinda old and has two gouges in it... I got it cheap from a guy that wreaked his 240... never got to put it in my coupe but I'm selling her now that I got my Z. I'll sell it for $50! I'll e-mail you some pix if you want? I also have a SILVIA S13 steering wheel in great condition for $100.
