Is this possible? Cracked Block)
98 (115k miles) goes in for an emissions test (they run it on a dolly). After test, it is driven and is bucking. Computer scan says engine misfire. Long and short is the block got cracked, as apparently the diaphragm on the fuel rail malfunctioned, causing the back cylinders to fill with gas. Is this possible? Seems an odd design flaw? Thx.

I doubt that the block would crack due to a pressure regulator failure, however, if the cylinders were filled with fuel, there could be some damage to the piston rings, or connecting rods. Liquid fuel cannot be compressed, so when the piston comes up, something has to give, and it's usually the rings or the rods. Im curious as to who said the block was cracked. Did you have a technician look at it? I've been a tech for 14 yrs. and have never seen a block crack from a "hydro-locked" cylinder.
