New to the forums, but have serious tranny issues with truck
Hello everyone. As my thread title says, I'm new to your forums. I also have a serious transmission problem. If anyone can help me out, it would be great.
Well, to start off, about a month ago, my pickup's transmission/clutch has been going really bad. Whenever I would try to put my truck into gear, the shifter wouldn't allow me to put them into gear. I couldn't put it into first, second, and so forth. I literally have to, sometimes, use all my strength to put the shifter into gear. However, after spending 10 minutes in my car, the shifter would shift like it usually would, with hardly any effort at all(the way it should be). Can anyone help me? Let me list my truck. It's a 1994 Mazda b2300, running 99,xxx miles. My father gave it to me when it had 68,xxx miles on it (and I'm pretty sure he never went to get the 60k service). I take care of my truck the best way I can, but I am at no means a mechanic, nor will I ever be. My friend says its the transmission fluid that needs to be replaced, but I want to see if anyone else had this problem as well before I try replacing stuff. Thanks for your time. |

try checking the clutch fluid, i had the same problem about a year ago and it was an easy fix, the resorvoir should be located on the firewall on the driver side, "not the brake fluid resorvoir" it also says to fill with dot 3 brake fluid though, remove the cap and the diaphram and fill with fluid then pump the clutch hopefully that works.

Your transmission should not go out at that mileage. They outlive the engine life most of the time.
olson99 might be correct. Check your clutch fuid level. If it is low, top it off and you may need to bleed the master and slave cylinders because there is a big possibility that air has entered the system if the fluid level has dropped way too low, At that mileage also, there's a possibility that either the master or slave cylinder is leaking or shot. |
