Help me TURN OFF ANNOYING DOOR CHIME '03 GMC 2500 HD

Does anyone know how to disable/ turn off the door chime that always goes off when you open the door? I have found how to turn it down, but that didn't seem to do anything and I can't handle the annoying loud noise it makes. Please advise thanks!

My 88-98 Chiltons manual says the fuse for the chime is the same fuse that powers the 4wd indicator light, dash cluster, comfort controls,instrument switches, radio illumination,and chime module.
If you found the module and were able to turn it down, you can probably unplug it, or if all else fails hit it with a screwdriver and a hammer, it will stop talking sooner or later, it worked on my ex-wifes Volkswagen rabbit !!!!

How exactly did you turn it down?

with the radio off push the "6" button it will say "loud" push it again and it will go to "normal", I dont know if you can turn it off.

I have a 98 Sierra and I just removed the Chime. If you are sitting at the wheel. The Chime is located about where you would put your left foot then a few inches off the floor on the firewall. It is about 2 and a half inches square. It plugs into a fixture mounted on the firewall and simply pulls out. The fixture on my 98 actually read "chime" by where it plugs in. I don't know how much they have changed in 5 years but good luck to ya! If nothing else fails just start unplugging things till it goes off

The chime for the 99-2003 models is built into the BCM itself, and the only way to remove it, is for a dealer to plug in and reprogram for it. For a healthy fee of course.
