89 octane unless you have a turbo, supercharger, nitrous, or high compression (10.1:1+), and then use 91+ with octane booster.

octane doesnt add any power, it resists knock. using high octane fuel in a vehicle not designed as so will make it lose power due to the fuel not igniting well enough. And also, octane booster will boost the octane sub 1 level. i.e. 91 octane with octane booster makes about 91.5 octane

Re: what kind of gas to use before racing?

I dont know about octane booster but for gas, just what you use for everyday driving I think. Higher octane rating only means the fuels ability to resist ignition.

Re: what kind of gas to use before racing?

Jo, I uZ 105 octane race gas in my D15B2 with some octane booster and IZ was runninZ 15.7z Biiaaatch!

Use the same damn gas you always use.. Low octane, cheap-o rama..
Unless you have advanced timing or something and if you do I assume you already know to use a higher octane fuel.

Don't bother wasting your money on higher gas...and if you have enough money to waste on expensive gas just get cheap gas and whatever u save send it my way :-P

Re: what kind of gas to use before racing?

yea what you use normally will be fine But i know this'll start a debate. I use 87 for my STD normally. But if i run 2 tanks of 93 or 94 the smog clears up a bit so only for smog do i swap to the higher grade.
