parking tickets!!

i live in brooklyn ny and the ticketing is getting way the fuck out of hand.
eveytime i turn around im getting a ticket for parking. its bullshit.
and they are 65$ 105$ 155$ tickets. some places in the city have meters. but then its like you cant park at those meters from 8:30 to 9:00 am. there are rules for parking every where. like 10 signs on every block. no parking monday from 7 am to 8pm and 9pm to 10pm for garbage. im starting to hate this city.
and i cant wait till bloomberg drops dead.
this fucker has no idea how it is to struggle and pay bills.
the other day in the paper they had a page on how ridiculios these tickets are getting. like quality of life tickets. they gave some 5 month preganet lady a fine for resting on the subway stairs. and some 79 year old guy for playing dominoes in the park.
i would rather pay more taxes then deal with this ticket shit.

Re: parking tickets!!

Damn! that is some serious bullshit. Boston meter maids can be pretty rough too, but at least the tickets here dont (usually) get that high for a parking violation.. but fining a pregnant woman for resting? Man if i saw that happening, i would have raised hell with that cop and let the lady get away!

Easy Solution: Move to a PoDunk cow town and parking is virtually free. I work in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the downtown area is only a few square miles but when the meter maids thought they would crack down in downtown and start writing $35 tickets, almost 200 of the 500ish meter heads came up missing so now they dont collect enough revenue from the existing ones to replace the broken ones because people no longer pay them when the space next to them doesnt have a meter head.

Re: parking tickets!!

LA tickets are bad too, but not as bad as New York tickets...I think that's because they encourage you to use the public transportation in NY, and in LA their more lenient becasue they realize you just commuted an hour or two and don't want to have to deal with a ticket...

And on that note, while I was in MN visiting friends and family, on of my buddies got a boot on his truck at the local University, thanks to public safety. That mean war. So we took the drill off using an abrasive bit with a regualr cordless drill and ripped of the boot in an about an hour and a half. BTW it was -20 that day. I will have pics of this escapade up VERY soon.

PEACE

Re: parking tickets!!

Yep, I'm over parking tickets too! Had 1 ticket and 1 warning since Friday.

Re: parking tickets!!

Parking tickets here are $20 and I still hate them. That's why you should just use the bike rack, and park off the street, on a playground, or at a library...

One of those damn confusing signs.

Over here in Idaho, the tickets are pretty cheap, like $35. But one time, I just left my car to throw something away 10 feet away from my car, and I come back and I have a ticket. I think the meter maid was hiding under the car next to me and when I wasn't looking, jumped out and slapped down a ticket, then ran away.

Re: parking tickets!!

I'm witcha homey. I live in the Bronx, and I gotta deal wit this bullshit too. Just last week I had to go to a hearing to fight this $60 ticket(pretty cheap for a NYC ticket). I live in a building completx which is private property and a cop comes in the complex and gives me a ticket for "no Parking". So anyway the parking bureau isn't open on the weekends and they are only open Monday-F 8:30am to 4:30pm. Which means I had to take time off my 9to 5 job and come in late to work for this Got Damn ticket that ended up getting dismissed anyway. They do it hoping you'll just get frustrated and pay it.
Note to all NYPD giving out tickets. Take a look to the left at my Avatar and this can happen to you too!
