Speed sensor

Can anyone tell me Were and how to check the speed sensor on my 1997 cavalier? My speed meter is not working.. don't really know were to start?

umm...not off the top of my head, but try checking a chilton manual for your year

Re: Speed sensor

Speed sensor is just above the passenger side axle on a manual under the shift linkage. On an auto I am not sure but will be close to the same position. It reads off the ring gear inside, so its going to be next to the firewall, somewhere on the big part of the trans.
