93 grand am quad, torque converter ???

Hi, new to the forums and Im experiencing problems with the car running fine at high speeds but when I slow down to a stop the car shudders and stalls. I can start it right away but as soon as I put it in gear it dies. I have read here that a quick fix/remedy to this thing was to unplug the Torque Converter Clutch ( switch... I think ) but I don't know what it looks like or how to access it. If somebody would be nice enough to post a pic of this thing or point me where I can find a pic and instructions how to unplug this thing, I'd appreciate it a lot. I'm assuming it's an electrical plug we're talking about here. As you can tell, I don't know much about cars... but I'm always willing to learn. Thanks in advance.

It was the lockup solenoid in my '93 Grand Am---exact same symptoms. Had it replaced, runs fine now.

Wink

I just bought a 94 grand am that does the same thing..it starts and runs fine till it gets warm, then when I come to a stop or slow down to much it dies. I know the catalytic converter has a rattle noise in it, but I think mine might have the same issues yours does. if I keep on the gas it runs fine....any help on this make me more sane......if its just a stupid plug or sensor.ill yank it out....another thing...how do you pull the codes off this thing!!!!

Thumbs up

If you stand in front of the car with the hood up, look down the right side. You'll see the tranny. Right in your view, you'll see an electronic's plug on the top or side of it, unplug it. If it works, you still need to get it fixed.
