Please help. i just installed subs and amp in my 92 prelude. The wires were already ran so i didn't have much problem but the problem is that after i got everything done the light on my dash says my trunk is open. But i know its not. I can't find a fuse to pull so i don't have to look at it i thinking its a wire because i guy may have split one to make the remote wire or something. I know its not the latch checked it. Any ideas?????? Please help. If not is there someting that i can do so that the light on the dash will go away?

Re: Trunk Lid problem
The first thing that comes to my mind is a switch on the trunk lid.
I wasn't even aware that the car had a dash light for the trunk though..

I checked, I do have it and it does light up. Hmm, but my 'open door' light and cruise lights don't work. Not that it's important, but I guess I'll have to check out the wiring when it gets warmer.

Hello mate.
Got the solution! Just sorted it on mine. I'd changed the boot lid back over for an MOT (car test in England) as I had no number plate light. Any way the boot light lit up as yours has. Just taken the boot catch out as I had set the release higher than previous. This therefore catches the sensor earlier saying it's open. By putting it back two notches the light has gone out. I reakon that your boot release (from the front seat) has got caught up. The cable run must have been hit by the sub therefore pulling it. This means it's trying to pull on the catch, although it hasn't opened the boot it has moved enough to hit the sensor. Have a look. Hope this helps. Rik |

Re: Trunk Lid problem
When the trunk is open sensor is not being touched and then when it is closed the sensor is bing touched. (Which should trun the light out but has not) now iam thinking it is the sensor has gone bad or something eles. But why would it just go out without me doing anything. I don't remeber hit anything when put in my subs. Can it be a relay or a wire that is crossed to make it seem like the trunks open but not. And is there a way to stop the light on the dash from being on.

I would suggest as I did earlier:
1.Open boot and remove 3 bolts holding lock in. See if it can be lowered down a bit. Keep everything connected. 2.Close the lock as it would be when the boot is shut. I managed this with my hand. 3.Turn on car. Light should stay on as it does when driving. 4.Try moving the release cable whilst looking through the back window. Look at the dash light and see if it goes out. It did on mine which made me realise the problem. Obviously it could be something like a broken sensor but it does seem strange that it happens when you've moved things. Rik |
