Rb motor onto a z32
Hi how is everyone people doing I am an admirer of the 300zx (90-96 Z32) it’s a beautiful car but at this moment I am thinking about the rb26dett engine, the reason why I prefer to be on the forum is because I am tired of being on these chat rooms and in public places with these simple minded poser people trying to discourage you like they are doing a favor by criticizing your decisions w/ their opinions. Talking about that the rb26dett is just a waste of time to get if it isn’t on a 240sx I am a Nissan fan but I don’t really care about the car since I don’t think the design is about as good as the 300zx in crash testings at the moment I cannot afford all this but science is good for the mind…. no? these are things that come to my mind when it comes to the stupidity of human nature (Remember do your research if you have questions or doubts, this is not a school project just for those that feel stable minded this place is not for those who are drunk, high, on drugs intoxicated, those that drank coffee, energy drinks, those who are tired or for wankers that released one so don’t play around)…… just do some research before opening your traps or getting inside the steering wheel okay dudes!!!??
The 240sx: In racing as well as safety yeah you can get in a wreck but in any car you will be toast if you are driving fast 1. The 300zx: In racing as well as safety of course you have a chance of dying if I get a 300zx but I want to get those chances reduced since the car is designed better and stronger (trust me I have seen them wrecked and burned on the road as well as the local junk yards you can spend your time at) 2. The 240sx: with me I don’t really care about the car even though it’s a beauty, I understand that the 240sx is good when it comes to engine options but there are more 300zx cars out there for the parts that may be needed. if I would want have a get to work car with an edge it would be an older model supra (86-92) capable of 500hp, 5k for the car good insurance prices (since its old) and to my surprise good prices for the parts of the thing. Plus there is a 1980s feel to it (well that’s my good opinion since I liked those years as a child) 3. If I do get a 300zx I would like to get a 93 2+2 since the insurance costs aren’t as high as the twin turbo type engine models +8,000 +00000 insurance price that’s not really important since not everyone knows how to drive 4. It is obvious if I do get on ebay (I am not from Australia but their ebay websites has stronger results when you use their search engine if you are looking for international products, like some of the imported Nissan parts) or any other internet websites to get a skyline engine the price for the thing is a little reduced try mentioning getting a skyline engine and all you are going to get is harassed by the popular type of groups that have insecurities that wish that they had this and that (the type of people limit themselves to possible things of this life) so I am not embarrassed to announce it myself +5,000 +the shipping (which I don’t think would be too much) 5. If someone wanted to get the skyline you would have to pay for legalizing the car, paying high insurance costs, shipping, etc. etc. etc. (thinking about getting a skyline for a cheaper cost is like a waste of brain cells unless you have the money to get one) very complicated thing to do if you are going to try to get one under this price +40,000-80,000 -40,000-80,000 forget about it too much money for me 6. +34000 maybe I would be thinking about the g35 Infiniti since it is technically an A-spec skyline yeah the rb26dett would probably fit in since that is a skyline engine no? 7. -34000 naw maybe not since I read somewhere that it is not legal to put an older model engine inside a newer model car (but who cares if racing on the track is a sport right?) 8. I myself would not feel happiness for a car from something that is man made. It wouldn’t be a joy to know that the payments would last longer than the enjoyment of the car itself. (I know there are other people that may feel the same way I do) It may cost more to get a g35 or a 350zx but I read that its possible to put a skyline engine inside the thing illegal since the skyline engines that are available are not as new as the new cars that we have here (g35/350zx) but who knows what the future holds for the future skyline. The cars don’t seem to have as many aftermarket parts as the 300zx tt and its engine doesn’t seem to be as strong as the 300zxtt, I am just going to sit back and wait for the car to get more established before I make my decision and void the warranty of the vehicle (if I had the money that is) no offense to those that have those modern elegant designed 300zx cars designed for the western types (which I give Nissan credit for) 9. +10,000 to get the thing inside the 3Z car at an aftermarket shop (yeah it may cost more than the 300zx but who cares its your money) 10. +3,000 yes there is people out there that may think that getting a skyline engine is ridiculous idea 11. but for this amount you can save yourself some time and get a nissan twin turbo engine (vg30dett) it’s an engine that halls *** anyways right?? cause in the long run you will save some money besides it is more of a fashion than a funcionable thing to do, Do whatever you want dude I was just trying to help you out (not pointing fingers to anyone) 12. So What??? Quit being a poser in front of a public place and acting stupid its possible to get a silvia engine inside the z32 as well from what I understand, I also understand that it can be a pain in the butt to work on the vq30dett engine by adding aftermarket parts on the thing (raising the engine is one thing I heard you have to do to work on the thing) 13. -3,000 but why bother what matters to me is being original w/ an original engine plus since the rb26dett engine revs higher, weighs less, and is capable of better power from what wings of war announced in the 3z forum there are people that announced that the steering would be a problem but that’s not what the aftermarket shop guys told me 14. + 8,000 if you want to get the rb26dett kit why don’t you just sell your 300zx and get a 240sx?? -5,000 for the 240sx = 3,000 for your pocket for upgrades = forget about it (that’s my opinion) 15. a so called waste of time and money is what people can say but anything can be done if it is planned right no? all you have to do is have a spare car for work and some $$$ 16. So my questions are if you are going to get this thing done the ingredients besides bread that are needed are the 2wd skyline ecu, the rb25dett transmission, fabrications, fuel pump, cut the firewall, z32 fairlady wiring harness, 17. What SIDE EFFECTS would I have to settle for w/ the rb26dett engine: no 4wd I know that for one, computer mess up? Steering issues for an A-spec 300zx (want proof on that) chance of a screwed up car if the project doesn’t come out right? Poor quality car since its not on the skyline? Non functioning air conditioning, costing extra money to get the brakes to function? What’s up? Check this website out: http://www.nissaninfiniticlub.net/fo...threadid=16503 18. +00000? as well as the price of a wrecked 300zx tt for the parts of the finishing touches you could probably find some parts at the junk yards maybe find some aftermarket parts but doubt there is a good chance of finding some…. You might get lucky though and get a discount if you find one but there are no warranties on parts either also those people (at the junkyards) can have funny attitudes if you are not careful 19. What finishing touches for the dinner would I need to get to complete this project to getting the 300zx running fine? A HICAS system? a new hood? Removings of some parts that you may need later on? 20. And the real question is if was finished could it compare w/ the Toyota Supra (93-97) in performance, the equalness of quality as well as price that would total up to $23,000 in total for the 93 300zx (maybe a bit more than that) compared to the new generation model 93 Toyota Supra TT for $30,000, with $7,000 to keep beside you if the finishing touches weren’t needed (someone please do the math cause I cant figure it out!! I don’t speak Japanese you know) 21. answers/opinions/finishing touches to some of my questions or comments would be appreciated (Thanks for your patience as well) Sincerely Streetsailor |

wow wtf..i must be really bored to read all that. As a mechanic, if someone came to my shop and asked to put a RB26 into his Z32. I would say hell no! unless your paying me a hefty sum of money. Most mechanics will think the same. If i were to do it myself, i wouldnt worry about insurance, because i would build the z strictly for racing. It would not be a daily driver. Not only will it not pass emissions, but if you end up destroying the engine thats it for you. Other mechanics will know shit about your car, because you have changed the way techs learned it. RB motors are capable of producing up to 1000hp but if your in america...and you wana boost that high..your stupid..you just killed the engine life of your RB motor. Unlike Japan where RB motors are availible anywhere for $200 USD. If your engine fries, your gona have to pay another 3-5k just for a rebuild, replacement, or OEM swap. And your downtime will be multiplied by 3.
If you are in the U.S. You will not be able to find a 2+2 Twin turbo...they just dont make them here in the states. Maybe in canada...but thats the only place you will find them in North America. Like i said earlier in past threads regarding this issue. If you wana swap because you want to race, it depends on application. You wana get good 1/4 or 1/8 times. You might as well just stick with the VG30DETT..because the powerband is almost the same as the RB26DETT, and the gears on the vg30dett transmission gear and final drive ratios are better for drag racing. As far as compairing your performance with the Supra TTurbo, take both your cars in a line, with your non-modified Rb motor. You might equal out in engine performance driving in a straight line. I cant say for sure..because gear ratios are important in compairing high performance RWD cars. and i dont know the ratios of the supra off the top of my head. As far as circuit racing, supra would have the advantage, the power to weight ratio will still be unchanged towards the supra, yet your body would still act to greatly under inertia. High speed cornering wouldnt be one of your strong suits. Before you even think about doing something like this, You need to look at the PROS and CONS about a project like this. Obviously if you think its all good shit. You need to open your eyes alittle more. As far as living on the states side, building a daily driver RB powered Z32. I see more Bad then good. On the other hand, building a RB powerd Z32 Race/Track car..i see more good than bad. Have fun with your decision...and if you end up going to do the swap..and your not doing it yourself..you better find a hell of a good mechanic. because in our business, we are the biggest bullsh*ters on the planet. |
