rear window defroster

hello gang!

I recently purchased a brand new 325I. As you all know, several features can be be customized from the key FOB (such as setting the seat, mirror, ac/heat etc). Fine, i had the dealer do that for me. but now heres where it gets interesting.

If you have your manual nearby, turn to page 99, under the Rear Window defroster. After you get the description on what you can do, you see below that small icon which, in the beginning, BMW tells you, you can customize for your car.

Well, it states: "You can have your vehicle programmed in such a way that the rear window defroster switches on automatically. This occurs,,,,,,,,,,,,"

Now, I asked my dealer, BMW Bill Jacobs, and they blew me off, telling me they had no idea and that no one had asked them about that feature. All I was told is that maybe the manual is incomplete.

Has anyone anywhere had luck having this programmed into their car? Or is this just something BMW thought about adding and never got around to for the 2003 models?

any help would be appreciated!

Alex

Ps- more later about my incident with my 325I and hitting the curb with one wheel!
