94 Mustang GT Conv.. Any Tricks You Know Of?

I have a 94 GT as you should know. I have already taken off the silencer and put in a K&N air filter. I read in another thread that there is some wire screen you can remove in the 96 is that also there in the 94? I also have a custom X-pipe with 40 series flows. I'm looking to get some BBK long tubes and a BBK X-pipe... I'm also considering making it true dual exhaust with no mufflers but I'm undecided on keeping the flows or not. With the 94 exhaust I would like to go bigger. I know from a buddy that had a 97 Cobra that 3" exhaust killed his low end but I saw in another thread that from my understanding might have been b/c it is a 4.6. Is there a difference exhaust wise between the 5.0 and 4.6 but I DO know I was bigger tips, preferably the size of the 99+... Anyone know anything bout this or anything else I might want to know?

Thanks

bigger pipes will kill your low end to some extent, but not that much. if you ever wanna seriously boost the power of this car w/forced induction, you're gonna want those 3 inchers tho. as for the wire screen, it is on the front of the mass air meter, just behind the old silencer mounting location. when you look into the inlet pipe, you will see it clearly. honestly, if you wanna improve your intake a little more substantially, get a new inlet pipe. you can get sweet chrome deals all over (mac, bbk, etc), and they don't have to be CAI. CAI isn't all that much more expensive either, and will gain a few horses.

Re: 94 Mustang GT Conv.. Any Tricks You Know Of?

Your thinking of making true duel exhaust??? Hate to break it to you, but that car already had true duel exhaust, there's two of everything. Just because you see that crossover doensn't mean anything, plus I would really advise against elimination the crossover in the exhaust.

As far as mods go,
New gears
Alum driveshaft
New shifter

Re: 94 Mustang GT Conv.. Any Tricks You Know Of?

not true dual exhaust in the terms of taking out my X pipe, I'm looking to keep that but by taking out the muffler and running an unrestricted exhaust. No cats and no muffler. I don't know if that'd help much or if it would even sound better but I'm willing to try to find out.

As for having some forced induction I'm not looking into that right now. I gotta get my hands on a good sum of money before I can get that. I guess I'll stick with 2 1/2 inch exhaust to the back. Do any of you know what size tips that is on the 99+ and is it just a tip or is the entire exhaust that size? I like the deeper sound of the new stangs.

yeah, 2 on each side of the exhaust... i guess the first ones coming after the headers are precats, which are used to cold start emissions

Yeah thats one of the first things I did was get ride of those four cats. Unbelievable how heavy and restrictive those things are.
