Strange Refueling Problem

When refueling my 98 Stratus lately, the pump shuts off like when it is full, even when I know the tank is near empty. I tried multiple pumps with the same result. It has been well below freezing the past few weeks so I don't know if that is part of the problem. Any suggestions?

Re: Strange Refueling Problem

i work at a gas station so i know something about pumping gas

That is a weird problem and it had never happen to me, i own a 98 stratus too. its a common fact that when a stratus gets filled up and you try to top it off, it kinda fights with me and wont let me round up to the next dollar.

it might be the pump itself or your car. if its cold out my suggestion is always keep your tank atleast half full and not wait until it reaches empty
