2001 Olds Alero

My daughter has a 2001 Olds Alero. She just spent her tax return $709 to repair wiring under her dash! She has been unable to turn the car off for the past 6 months. When she turned the key off the engine kept running so she had to disconnect the battery everytime she wanted the car off. She recently had a baby and after hooking up her battery one morning the automatic door lock, locked her baby inside the car!
So she finally gave in and paid the Garage to fix the wiring which they said was a hazard.... how did this happen? and why so expensive?
Well...so now the money is spent that was for the Babys crib...3 days later (today) she's driving through the grocery store parking lot and a car hits her on the passenger front end breaking her axle! The cop says it's her fault!
My question is...wher should we take this car and how much can we expect to pay? I feel she was taken advantage of with the wiring deal and I would like to be informed before we attempt to get this axle taken care of.
Thanks in advance.

Re: 2001 Olds Alero

You really have had some bad luck! I feel sorry for you. I would take the car to a certified GM mechanic.
