97 monte carlo z34 problem

Well the second time the service engine light came on I was able to make it turn off by adding more oil. Now about a month later the light has come back on and I am now completely clueless as to what the problem may be. Within the last 2 months the dealership had fixed a leak in the intake manifold I dunno if that could have somethin to do with it? The car otherwise runs fine the tach stays around 2000rpm without jumping up or down and the engine is not overheating? If anyone has any suggestions please let me know?

Again....have you tried unhooking the battery for 20min to reset all the codes completely? If the problem persists just grit your teeth and have it looked at again...

Might check all the plugs and wires also - along with levels of all the liquids.

I too have a 1997 Z34 with the check engine light on constantly, with no obvious affects on the operation of the car. I have had it diagnosed as an error code P0441, which relates to the Fuel EVAP canister/system is failing. I do not know if this will help you or not, but I figured I would give it a shot!
