Braking and Downshift Question.

Hello All,

My new 2004 passat wagon motion acts a little strange.
When you drive like MPH and brake down to a complete stop, the car gives a sort shudder or chuck one second before you actually come to a stop. It is like the car wants to leap forward for before coming to a stop. That occurs only if you brake to a complete stop.

any thoughts??

CK,

I am experiencing a similar problem while braking. The car comes to a stop and then gives a sudden jerk forward or shudder. I brought the car in yesterday where I purchased the car and was told Volkswagen is aware of the problem. It's a software problem with the transmission downshifting when it shouldn't. But unfortunately Volkswagen hasn't developed the fix yet. I have another dealership looking at it at the moment just to see what they say, but I'm not hopeful.

I've personally contacted a Lemon Law attorney but it will remain to be seen what can be done.

Good luck to you.
