Does it idle good, and does okay at low speed? Has it set off the "SES" light?

Your timing is non-adjustable, it is controlled by the PCM. It works off of signals sent by the Cam position sensor, and the crankshaft position sensor. You should probably take off the Ignition module and have it checked, (most national chains will do for free) have them check it three times to heat it up much like what it sees under the hood. Did you keep track of the plugs you took out and their condition? Do you have a Digital Volt Meter? It would be safe to check the coils while you have the Ignition module off. What about the SES light?

plugs were in good condition, not sure what a ses light is but no different lights are lite on my dash, the car drives fine as long as i drive without putting the gas down hard.

I would also change the fuel filter if it has not been changed recently (in the last say 20K miles). If that does not help (and none of the other suggestions have helped), check the fuel pressure. I am assuming you have many miles on the auto if the SC bearings are worn. The fuel pump can cause acceleration cutouts while running OK at lower speeds if it cannot keep up a good pressure. You will need to check it while driving and making it stall out. A mechanic can do this for you quickly (he will have the equipment).

Philo is right, if you've done everything else, look at the fuel pressure and replace the filter as he suggests, if you havent done that lately. You should have approx 40 psi....and be able to hold it, key on, not necessarily running. Also, by your comment the SC "bearing" is making noise, ....How much noise? If it's knocking pretty good, it can confuse your knock sensor, and make the PCM retard the timing (could be the coupling instead). The SES light is the Service Engine Soon light. Does it come on in "bulb check" as soon as you turn the key on? It should stay on around 4-6 seconds, If not, replace the bulb,...it could be trying to tell you something.
