I have a 02 Elantra GLS. The check engine light comes on periodically. Been 2 the dealer 5x for same problem within 2 years. I had it serviced the 1st time for this problem 3weeks after I bought it.(Dealer History Descriptions) 12/01,...code present for a failed cannister close valve. Replaced valve. 08/02,...Found small evap leak. tightened cap & retested. OK. 10/02,...Found faulty pressure sensor. replaced sensor. 11/02,...Found code PO456 cannister close valve sticking. replaced cannister close valve & cleared codes. 1/03,...Found codes DTC 455 & 456, gas cap not clicking & not sealing. removed and replaced gas cap & retested evap system 5x..OK. The cars been running fine thru all of this. Dealers been pushing the blame on me for not tightening gas cap 6 clicks, leaving key in ignition while at the pump or Hyundai for an evap system thats too tight. I've given up with the dealer and lived with the light coming on and off periodically. Any thoughts reg this wierd problem!!!! |

Re: Intermittant "check Engine" Light
has your dealer performed an evap test that sends smoke thru your evap system? its possible there could be a pin sized hole in one of the evap lines? the smoke test could pin point this problem
