Probably a Drivers race since the new Tiburon GTs have 180 HP and they are pretty light. Stock for stock though a moderate 3s driver would take a Great Tiburon driver. To make your SL faster you can get a test pipe (40$) but catch is they arent legal. However it replaces the cat and adds 5-12 HP. Downpipe (300$) adds 10-15HP and replaces the stock DP with a much larger pipe that will increase airflow drastically. Borla Exhaust or custom, either or, will add a decent ammount of HP as long as its something going to the cat, a fart can isnt going to do shit except make you sound retarted. These are probably the first mods you will want to go with, swapping the TT off a vr-4 will give you a lot more HP but is pretty expensive compared to the above mods. Also, beware of the Tiburons because they have mods like speed chip which adds 25+ HP and shit so those can get fast quick.

Cool

"Performance" chip is a farce. All it does is fuck up the ecu, and eventually the engine. Do the standard intake/header/exhaust, and you'll do okay.

Uhm, the speed chip does work because I rode in a Tibby GT before and after the chip was installed and it was a signifigant increase. However your right about it fucking up the car. But who gives a shit about the Tibby, all I know is an SL would beat it either way, just is a little more of a challenge with a speed chip (until the car dies)

Why would the chip fuck up the ECU or engine?? Am I missing something here?

Re: Tiburon 2004 GT vs 3000GT SL?

I don't know too much about the chips, but I am hesitant to believe much of what they put on ebay for 20 bucks. I know that there are serious tuning chips out there, however, I think that the "performance" chips just lie to the ecu about the amount of air flowing in so the car dumps more gas in and runs richer. Not really a significant gain in hp and it's basically changing the air/fuel ratio. If it does so too drastically, it is not good for the car. However, as I said, my knowledge of the chips is limited to speculation.

Most tell the ECU that ambient temp is different, and cause the timing to advance, which actually will give you some more power. Others just mess with the TPS signal so it tells the ECU you are giving it more gas than you actually are, so it feel like there is more power, but there isnt.

So far there are no chips for our cars, our ecu's are already performance.
