Question Calvalier climate control fan switch problem

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had encountered the same problem as I have. My 1995 Cavalier climate controls are acting up. Mainly, the switch to set the speed of the fan only works at the highest setting. Do any of you know how I can fix this or refer me somewhere that will let me know?

THANKS!

Patrick

Thanks for the reply, but can you elaborate? How do I test this? How is the resistor excessable? Just underneath the dash? What does the heater case look like? thanks!

I had the same problem.the resistor is on the passenger side, under the dash panel.once you get the panel off you will see,the blower motor and a white plastic thing behind it.this is the resistor, itshould have 4 wires going to it.you will have to remove the blower motor to get to it.this is were i got frustrated .the stupid train drivers(engineers) at GM put 2 screws to hold it in.the one is easy to get,the other not so easy.i should have went and got a universal and extention(all 1/4 drive),because there is no room for just a rachet.ended up using pliers on it,to bust it out.it ripped the back post for the screw out.i installed the new resistor and it worked great.now have all speeds of the fan back.
