If anyone has any insight on what may bet going wrong , I'm thankful in advance. The battery is under a year old and its very cold. HHeelllppp Raybuick

Re: Car battery Problem _very cold weather
Once a battery loses its charge, it sometimes wont maintain a charge anymore. Buy a Delco battery with the 7 yr warranty. It is pro-rated, but it will last longer, and is cheaper to replace.

If it is under a year old Then whoever sold you the battery should replace it for free. I have gotten several of them before that where just crap. they where dead and would not hold a charge after like a month. If you think it is something car related, check all the curtoisy lights. I had a car one time that the battery kept on going dead and it ended up being the trunk light switch was bad.

Re: Car battery Problem _very cold weather
If the battery will not hold a charge, it should be under warranty. Just be sure that the vehicle is not draining the battery. This can be done w/ an ammeter. It is also possible that the charging system is not charging it properly. This can a so be checked w/a multimeter. Ray

Re: Car battery Problem _very cold weather
Thanks to all replies to my discharging delco battery probs. I'm convinced there is a short somewhere draining my battery. After pulling fuses and couldn't find nothing, i took it to a garage and after having it for a day, they could'nt find anything wrong, tested alt., looked for short, charged battery and said it was maybe the battery and nailed me with 80$ charge. Now 2 days later battery is discharged! I charged it good, charging looks good, shut down engine with full charge and will see how it is in morning. I had a problem recently with the front door handle sticking open from the cold and discovered that when they are lifted a current is opened. If anyone knows how to de-activate them, appreciation is in the horizon. Maybe thats the short i'm looking for.ray
UPDATE UPDATE .....Removing the powerlocks fuse stopped the battery drain. A circuit was being left on because the powerlock on the drivers door was not fully engaging in the lock position due to resistance from the linkage going to the door handle. Thanks to all,Ray

Re: Car battery Problem _very cold weather
You probably found it by now, but its in the glove box- check owners manual if available. A sympton that leads to this is that the inside door handle would not open the door, I would have to roll the window down and use the outside lever. Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.
