So you're saying what would have happened if on 9/11, the plane heading for the white house had actually crashed and killed Bush? Well, knowing what he has done so far, I wouldn't be crying.

It probably it would have been a bigger deal if the president was killed, and I also believe more people would have supported a war on terrorism. But otherwise, people would get over it and we would move on.

What you say to this depends on your view of the president though.

I would cry that we lost the white house. Otherwise I don't think people would care much, unless some important people died.

Depends how many leading politicians got taken out[as I recall,Bush was nowhere near the White House at the time].Can't imagine what Bush might have done had the attack succeeded.

Not sure if the military would have the skills and initiative to take over the running of the country in the absence of elected leadership - after all,they've had ample time to take control of Iraq,and as yet haven't come close to creating a safe country.

Hmm... I thought that most people believed that the plane was headed for the Capitol. Having a large chunk of the US government get wiped-out would have caused a lot of problems.

America has been prepared since the end of WWII to deal with a complete lossof the countrys upper management. Yes there would have been some serious disruption, but the military would have been prepared and capable of responding, and an alternative list of leaders would have been put to use.

Peoples everyday lives would be little effected, although the national level of emotinal shock would have been greater.

I agree Moppie. We are prepared for that to happen. I beleive we would also look right away for a strong military leader to put in the presidents place. Who knows...maybe the French would have backed us.........Nah.

He was in an elementary school on Florida. I imagine he would do something really, really, REALLY stupid if the attack succeeded, like maybe launch some nukes. The only other thing that would have happened would be that we would have to rebuild the White House, and have people move up in the chain of command to fill the empty spaces.

As Chicago said, Bush was reading at an elementary school in Florida. But even if he was at the white house, I doubt there would have been very many casualties. You know the military is radaring everything that flys within a 15 mile radius of it. So they probably would have been for warned to get to the underground area.
