domestic cars section

Is it just me or does it seem like most of the threads in the American car's section (camaros, mustangs) seem to always bash imports. Like I was reading some of em just to know more about domestics and like all of em always go back to how imports suck and crap. And they get really emotional and serious about it too . They get bent out of shape and all insecure, it's the weirdest thing ever.

Examples:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...7&page=1&pp=15

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...8&page=2&pp=15 (at the way bottom of this page)

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ghlight=import

many others.... Out of the times I've been in this and other forums revolving around imports, I still haven't come across one thread about how imports rule domestics at all. Could it be more of a racial thing?

moved to the stress release forum. seemed like a more appropriate place for it.

and the topic at hand? i say: to each, his own. if they want to bash imports, then they can go right ahead. it makes no difference on my life and certainly doesn't change my viewpoints on the cars that i like, so what do i care?

Re: domestic cars section

They always talk about the same thing too. "I built a faster car for less money" I'm willing to bet $5,000 that I can build a 12 second import with less than $3,000 to start with.

I'd love to see that!!! Please explain how you plan to buy a car and upgrade it with a $3000 budget and get it into the 12s!!!

Yes, and which car do you plan to buy for $3000 and have enough left over to modify to get into the 12s?

Re: domestic cars section

I frequent the Chevy and Ford forums simply because that's what I have spent the vast majority of my life building for drag racing. I've only gotten into the import scene fairly recently and Mark has been a HUGE help.

IMHO, ANY car can be made to haul a$$ with the right, money and know-how (I stress the money part).

You'll never see me bash imports OR domestics.

Re: domestic cars section

I think between domestics and imports, neither is better than the other. It's all just preference, given that both have the potential to be faster than each other. Design is also subjective. I don't see the point of saying "oooh, blah blah imports/domestics are faster while being $1 cheaper." If someone likes imports more even if it costs more money, who are you to say that's a stupid decision?? What if to them the design to them is worth the purchase? and vice versa with American cars.

Quit these stupid imports vs domestic discussions, it's all just preference, it's like comparing an apple and an orange, if you try winning an argument like that you're just retarded. It seems like a lot of american car owners, not all, are insecure on how the import scene is getting increasingly popular and overshadowing their american cars...

Re: domestic cars section

There will always be the great Imports vs Domestics debates as has been said previously, it all comes down to personal preference in the end. The world would be a very boring place if we all liked the same things.

You know what's funnier? a Top Fuel Gremlin I saw whip 4 cars in a row before a Hemi Cuda beat it.

As for myself, I lean towards to import route, but I will never forget my roots in Domestic musclecars. Take, for instance, my third car...

I guess hatred towards imports/domestic is just an environmental thing. A person can be raised in surounding that can teach him to fall in love in NISMO/TRD/Mazdaspeed/Ralliart/Sti, etc. and loathe domestics can also be the same person who was raised in an environment that preached low compression V8's and 9 inch rear ends...
