Re: 99 Intermitted defroster fan

Tom,
Does the car have auto climate control? If car has the manual HVAC system, it may just be a resistor pack that needs replacement, or loose leads..... something to that effect.

I had the same symptoms with my '96 Bonny.

Hugh - Thanks for help but where do I find Tech Questions? I went to articles but only 9 were listed & climate controller was not one of them.

I'm new to this web site and I'm trying to help some one whose husband just died to sort out a intermitted defroster - she is afraid that a repair place will cost too much - it's cold here and she needs info. Thanks

The referred thread is currently 10 or 12 subjects down from this one in this Bonneville forum. In a nutshell, I replaced my intermittent blower assembly and it fixed the problem. It is located in the engine compartment, just a little to the drivers side from the center of the firewall. I had to remove the shocktower crossbrace and a steel bracket that were in the way of allowing me to get the blower assembly out. There's a small bypass tube on the bottom of the blower assembly that you have to carefully remove as well as the power plug. There are about 5 or 6 small hex screws that hold the blower assembly onto the firewall. Once I removed them I was able to fanagle it out and get the new one in.

This is all assuming that the "defroster fan" you are talking about is the heater and A/C blower.

Hugh
