Question I found 2.5 Grand, what to do....

I have a 1999 Civic VP... Yea... I'm as confused as you are... Oh right... it's an automatic too. I know, i got the shaft when my parents bought me a car. Anyway... I looked under my bed one day and found 2.5 grand, and i decided to spend it on my car. Does anyone know what kind of model i should buy for when shopping (DX, LX)? What should i do? I found a cheap 5Zigen Fireball cat back exhaust for $470, should i get it? Would it sound different on an automatic than on a manual? I'm also planning on buying rims, 17s from wheelsnext.com. They come with free lowering springs. If i install them would i have to uninstall them during the winter when i would put my stock wheels back on? I might also buy strut bars, front and rear uppers, that is if they do anything for the car. Help? I'm not looking to race or anything like that. I just want a little better handling, better performance (more power, mileage), and something that will go a long way (Who knows when I'll get my next car). Any other ideas would be great... Thanks

Shit dude. you missplaced $2,500... UNDER YOUR BED?!?!? fawwwwk.

Anyways... what trim level is your civic?? I've never heard of VP? Personally I'd spend it all on a killer suspension setup. Or swaping a ls/gs integra engine (b18b) with a manual transmission.

do you know what engine you have in your car, and is it a 2 or 4 door?
I think the VP's had a 1.5L engine and is 4 door, but I don't remember for sure.

If your going to get lowering springs you should just get adjustable coil overs so when you want to raise it back up you can do so with out to much work at all.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that he just found $2,500 chilling under the bed! I wouldn't care what you guys thought about it! I'd be at the garage right now...

Maybe the salesman didn't know what he was talking about and it's a VX or something? It doesn't have the little letters on the back that tell you the trim? It's been a while but I think if you carfax your vin you can find out what the car was, and I think it tells you trim level.

Re: I found 2.5 Grand, what to do....

Its a VP all right. I live in Michigan. Its a 4door. As to what kinda of engine, i cant find out till i go home. I'm at college right now, and i wanna have everything figured out by spring break. Does anyone know if the exhaust would sound funny on an auto?

Re: I found 2.5 Grand, what to do....

I'd pay off some bills with that money, or save it... but that's me. $2,500 could buy you a tasty b16, but my engine-swapping suggestions are biased because that's the path I took, however, I'm happy with it

Re: I found 2.5 Grand, what to do....

I think VP stands for value package. As far as I know...the DX in the past did not have the aircon/radio/power windows. I also saw on hondas website one time that VP does stand for value package where its basically a DX with the radio and aircon and some other stuff...I think.

With regards to the money...I would personally go with suspension first. Then get the engine after.
