Question replacement engine or engine swap

hey i'm lookin for a new or low milage 420a motor to replace the one in my gs right now because i have to many probs with the one in my car now.

also i'm looking for info on a engine swap to a 1st gen 4g63 or an engine swap to a 2nd gen 4z63 or 4g63.

lemme kno if its better to replace my 420a and build it up or jus do a engine swap. and what am i lookin at price wise to build up my 420a and what am i lookin at in price for an engine swap for the 3 diff. engines

Re: replacement engine or engine swap

You cannot replace a 420A with 4G63. You can either pay for a lower end buildup and turbo setup (expensive) or buy a turbo car.

turbo setup?? what do u mean? and do they make a 420a thats turbo ready and stronger built than the 420a motor i have now. i ask because i've been told crate makes a turbo ready 420a motor...that could be wrong but i dunno..

why can't i swap to a 4g63 or 4z63 because i've also been told it can be done but its hella expensive b/c u have to change motor mounts and the tranny 2

Re: replacement engine or engine swap

turbo setup = turbo kit for 420A

no there is no turbo 420A

because the engine is situated on the wrong side. you are right, it CAN be done, but if you are trying to only spend 200 on headlights, do you really want to spend 4000 dollars putting a 4g63 in there?

i'll be happy to spend 4000 eventually to replace it because if i don't i'm gunna put that much into it in repairs.

hopefully the 4g63 engine will be more reliable than the 420a motor i have now. it'll take me awhile to get hat type of money but i'm willing to do it if it increases the speed of my car and most of all the reliability

Re: replacement engine or engine swap

u said u car was hit in front and insurance claimed it and paid u like 1000 dollars rite... better sell this car to someone and buy a gst if money is a problem for u... if money is not a problem then buy a gsx...
if u are ready to spend 4000 to repair ur crashed gs and drop a 4g63... it is best to sell the gs as it is... and put some extra cash and buy a gst or a gsx.... i am sure on this that many people will agree with me

as soon as its fixxed you'll see it on autotrader. i was already gunna sell it an get a gsx-r 750 but i'll look into getting a gs-t. as far as locally around you what is a 2nd gen gs-t in good condition with low milage going for and if you find a decent one send me the info on it so i can look into it

Re: replacement engine or engine swap

wat is a gsx-r 750??? or is that a typing error??? gst in a good condition should be around 5000-6000 and gsx good condition 6000-13000 and goes on... u can also find cheaper ones but the mileage should be high or the car should have been raced like shit... this is all i got now... more ppl will tell u later

if you want a 4G63 sell your GS and buy a turbo DSM, the work you have to go through to get it done isnt worth it. not to mention how costly it is. if you like your car get a 420A to replace the current one, if you arent attached to it, sell it and buy a turbo dsm. my

Re: replacement engine or engine swap

first of all, turbo dsms are not reliable. your GS was probably more reliable than the turbo you will buy.

i thought you wanted a swap.. saying you would pay the cost, then 12 minutes later you say you didn't want one.

i wanna sell it and get a turbo b/c it'll save me money. if not i'll be happy to swap my engine or replace it.

what makes my shitty 420a motor more reliable than a turbo 4g63 or 4z63
so as far as reliability is concerned you say stick with the 420 and bulid it up

Re: replacement engine or engine swap

I meant stock reliability. if you are going to build a motor, i'm sure the 4G63 will be more reliable in the long run, but that doesn't mean there isn't extra maintenence, hidden costs, and shortened lifespan.

Re: Re: replacement engine or engine swap

any engine will be unreliable if you dont pull your scheduled maintenance on it. turbo engines stock are no less reliable than a N/A engine. there are just more things you have to be willing to pull maintenance on in order to have a reliable turbo car.
