I have 98 chevy 1500 with a vortec 4.3. When the wether gets cold my
truck wont start. It turns over good, and has good fuel presure, with good fire thru the plugs. But acts like the coil wire is unpluged it dose not hit at all. If enyone has eny ideas I would be more than glad to here from you. |

Have you tried reading the trouble codes?

Re: 98 chevy wont start in cold wether
Maybe there's water caught in the feul filter that freezes in very cold weather. That would restrict fuel and not let it start. I am going to say its fuel related a best.

Re: 98 chevy wont start in cold wether
It has a no trouble codes and it has 60psi of fuel pressure going in to the moter and the injectors are pulsing with a new fuel fillter

The trouble probably lies with leaking injectors and the fuel pressure regulator. But before you go tearing into the system take off the throttle body boot open the throttle body flap and look into the intake if it is wet the injectors are leaking you can also look towards the back of the intake where the brake booster vacuum line goes in and once again any sign of gas in the intake the injectors are leaking vortecs are notorious for this but not to worry it is an easy fix mechanically it is just that the injectors are @ $100.00 a piece times all 6 ouch!

Who is to say sign of gas in the intake is not a result of the regulator leaking?
