Need more fuel Capacity

I'm tired of filling up my truck's 26 gallon tank up so frequently. I have an '02 ext cab 1500 Z71, regular wheelbase. Does anyone have any experience with replacement tanks? Is there any reason to believe that the 40 gallon Suburban or 3/4 ton truck tank would fit without too many problems? I know Aerotanks has a 40 gallon replacement listed for trucks up to '99, did they change the tanks between then and '02? Lastly, do you think the fuel guage and pump and whatnot would still work, I've never looked at the 40 gallon Chevy tank to see what its shape is.
Thanks,
Jeb
