GT Brochure on Ebay
Is this the real deal?
GT Brochure Prestige brochure Plus a few more 1/12 scale cars: Dark Blue 1/12 Looks like this one's been on display. Has some dust on the door. And the windows are not so clear. Yellow 1/12 Good luck getting this one. Yellows seem to go through the roof. |

Re: GT Brochure on Ebay
Yes, but it's not worth what he's asking. There's scanned copies of it out there which you can get for free. I don't remember where I saw those, but if I do, I will post it here.

Yes, they are the real deal, however, there are these fanatical brochure collectors in the world who have driven up the prices of all the official McLaren literature to astronomical levels. It's really gotten rather out of hand if you ask me. Maybe I just have sour grapes because I'd like to have copies of them and feel that many of the people who are buying them aren't nearly as passionate about the car as most of the participants of this forum.
Given that information, this seller of the GT brochures truly should have made seperate auctions out of thsse two items as the last time a single F1 GT brochure hit Ebay it sold for over $1000 USD if I remember correctly. You can be fairly certain that whomever wins the pair will more than likely sell the second one to make back some of their money. That's what I would do anyway. The 'Prestige Brochure' is often referred to as the "Launch Brochure" which is a more appropriate name as it was handed out to prospective customers at the unveiling of the initial McLaren F1 concept (commonly referred to as the Clinic Model) in Monaco in 1992. Many have claimed that only 100 of them were printed, but given the frequency that they appear on Ebay I would suggest there is really many more than that out there - possibly as many as 5-10 times that figure. The 1/12th scale cars are truly spectacular. I only have one (the blue color), but will try to add more to my collection later. I would really like to have Silver and the Green as well. I'm not much for the Red and decided I didn't want the Yellow when I discovered that it has a green interior. The ultimate color is the dark gray in my opinion. I didn't even know it existed until a few months back. One came up recently on Ebay and sold in the ~$700 range I believe. I got my blue one for around $350 and that's about the typical range for them. If you decide to get one make certain the seller places extra padding in the holes of the styrofoam package as quite frequently they are damaged during shipping. >8^) ER |

Just to follow up - apparently the seller made no mistake listing those GT brochures together. The final bid was £1060.00 or $1933 USD. That's just incredible that someone would pay that much for them.

Probably because it has XP3 on the cover and an article pertaining to the F1 development inside.
![]() I've got at least two other issues of "Wheels" with F1 articles in them. One is actually an article on XP1 LM. ![]() Now, if only I could read Australian, I'd be set. ![]() Anyway, I'm trying to build a library over here and doing a fairly good job so far. It will be a great day for many when I finally buy a scanner too. >8^) ER |
