Somebody please help me out w/ my new BOV that I just broke...have a few ?'s

Okay well I just got the Greddy BOV today in the mail (used) and the screw is just a regular bolt on the top that u adjust to make it hard or soft. I guess the other person lost the other one or something, I don't know. Anyway. So that whole that the screw goes in is stripped as well. (information that was not given to me before the purchase). So my question is, can I just retap it and put a bigger bolt in there and it will be good as new? Also, have any of you tried taking out the smaller spring in the inside of it and using it like that? Any good doing it? Someone help me out please as I just got this today and isn't making my day go very well...

Re: Somebody please help me out w/ my new BOV that I just broke...have a few ?'s

i wou7ld thinnk that it wouldnt make a difference either way if you would retap it and use a larger bolt because it only i believe on a type s it just holds that valve from opening as far so not really making it stiffer just from opening it so far which will make a larger psi because it is still restricting it and i would not put a larger spring in unless it blows off to easy with the stock spring
hope this helps

that didnt make sense to me, lol. Also it's not putting a larger spring in it. There are 2 springs in it, a large and a small and I've heard of some people removing the smaller but it wasn't on an eclipse. It was on Evo's and some other stuff so I was just seeing if anyone w/ an eclipse has done it

o sorry i never have pulled a type s apart but if they are doing in on the EVO it should work on the eclipse to becasue i believe that the EVO has a 4g63 in it to i may be mustaken so dont hold me on that i just saw that in a magazing last week but obviousely it is tuned up compared to the eclipse 4g63 engin but they also run 18 psi and a front mount intercooler with water sprayers on it (cool)

Leave the springs alone, tighter is better unless you're making less than stock boost. Drill and tap for a larger bolt, just be sure to remove the top before you do it so you dont drill into something that doesnt need holes in it

also remove so you dont get chips into the valve becasue you wouldent want to run the aluminam shavings threw the motor.

They wouldnt get into the motor unless they somehow got through the diaphram But its a good suggestion none the less.
