Race gas/trick the PCM?
I just read on zzperformance. com that if you run race gas 1 hour before the dragstrip or dyno you will trick the pcm into giving you unheard of timing and gaining like 25hp. Has anyone actually tried this? does it work? does it throw codes? do you then always have to run race gas? and most importantly does it ruin your o2 sensors? Thanks been nice talking to all this week as i have been battling pneumonia but its back to that damn truck of mine and im off to houston tx. See me later!

Yes it works great.
It takes me an hour to get to the track, so I try to run the tank to E and by then Im half way to the track and I then add the race gas (104). By the time Im on my 2nd pass the PCM has learned the new fuel and all is good. 3 KR on 93 0 KR on 104 I was able to run w/ 0 KR in 95 deg heat for the High Performance Pontiac shootout I was involved in. |

Re: Race gas/trick the PCM?
Yes it does work...
Just make sure the race gas you use is unleaded. Lead is what damages the o2 sensors iirc. The torco race fuel concentrate that zzp sells has worked well for me too. |
