94 S10 pu auto trans trouble still

This is the continuation of an earlier thread. Its a 94 S10 2WD ex cab 4.3lt with a 4L60 tranny.I installed the shift kit to my tranny and it did not blow up when I tried it. It did not fix the problem either. It will not go into 3rd and maybe not 4th but the overdrive kicks in if I rev it enough. I put a code reader on and it gave me a 73 that the book said "line 3 is grounded or short" Where do I go to find out where line three is? I am not afraid of the electronic portion but I do need a reference to proceed. Help!

Have you tried looking in the repair manual?

I'm only assuming if your a DIY, you have a manual.
That would explain the wires real quick like.

Re: 94 S10 pu auto trans trouble still

I have a Chilton’s for this truck but it is the consumer version. Also, I know that even the best Easter egg fault isolation diagrams can carry you in the wrong direction if the writer did not think of every fault, specifically in wiring situations. They have a tendency to hold to the premise that all the wires are complete and intact with insulation and no corrosion. The book I has a very simplified schematic of the truck’s circuit showing the transmission and computer as black boxes. I require a detailed wiring picture so I can line trace, if necessary. I t will take me some time to hunt down the book that has a diagram that serves my troubleshooting process.
It is often helpful to ask people how know what they are doing and have vast more experience then I have to help shorten my time and guide me away from the pitfalls of poor manual writers. So I guess you might say, YES, I have looked at a manual and now I am asking more talented people, with a better selection of source material to choose from, for help.
By the way, What is a DIY? and why would you assume anything?
