FS or WTB--'92 Metro Conv. or Eng for Same
I tried rebuilding the engine in mine, since it was in great shape with a brand new top. I only replaced the valves that were absolutely necessary when I had the head worked, and about 200 miles into it, a valve dropped and busted one of the pistons. The entire valve train was noisy from day one, and I was discouraged about the lack of knowledge and/or understanding the head builder had as to why. Obviously proving what actually happened is pointless--has anyone else had these issues? I will be looking for an engine--cheap as possible--in the Birmingham, AL, area, or for someone who wants to take the car off my hands as is. It has new tires on it, and all new tuneup parts on the engine, as well as a brand new clutch assembly. Also, it has a new alternator on it: I put it on in Atlanta, GA, and the engine crapped out right before I left Georgia--about 40 miles later! This is very disappointing: I am the type that doesn't mind the kind of looks I got driving that car, but as an investment, it isn't very practical for me at this point. Any thoughts?
