Just How Rare?

Just askin for kicks. I was just wondering if you guys would consider 3000GT's or Stealths rare cars. I only see maybe one or two a day and that's pretty rare considering I live just outside Miami and most cars are a dime a dozen here. Someone told me they didn't consider it rare because they see it once or twice a day. Sure, not as rare as Lambo's or Vipers, but sometimes I don't see any for days. Just wondering what you guys thought and if it was as hard to spot one elsewhere as it is here. Thanks.

P.S. I'm thinking thinking of painting the horizontal stripe across the front bumper of my 93' to match the car. Good Idea? No good Idea?

Here are the worldwide production numbers.

You can judge how rare you think they are. The VR4 is the top of the line model (and the Spyder takes it one step further) As a comparision there are just less the 2,000 vipers created a year. So there are less second generation VR4s out there then Vipers.

As a side note, there are very few lambos built every year. See http://www.lambocars.com/numbers.htm

A high production car like the Accord has around a quarter million made a year so I think anything under a 10,000 run is rare.

Depending on what the color is, you can probably tell them it's 1 out of 90.

I've only seen a '99 once in person. For a second I thought it was a Viper (!).

seeing as to how rare all of them are, i want a VR4 Spyder. i have the cash, it's just finding where i can get one. Mom said she would so i took her up on the offer(she said i couldn't have a viper till i'm 25 cause of insurance). any who, Yogs, i know you have one of the rarest out there, any suggestions on searching one down, should i just be patient, or could i talk to a dealership and see if they can find one faster for me? so the `96 is the last VR4 spyder made? i want the most recent one. i love my `94 SL but i need an upgrade.

95 and 96 are the only years that Spyders were made. Not a lot out there and factor in the few number of VR4 Spyders and you have a rare car indeed.

I got a lead on mine from www.3si.org which has a good 'cars for sale' section. Check there, ebay and autotrader.com and you'll find some leads. The original buyers have been selling them - ie the people who bought them because they were rare and new are selling them - and the people who want them because they are VR4 fans are sucking them up. Once people like me have them, their won't be many coming on the market. I'd say there are less then half the number avaialable out there then their used to be.
